Dreaming With Fergus McCreadie Trio
I started listening to Fergus McCreadie during the UK Lockdowns, thanks to the amazing efforts of Sheffield Jazz and Jazz at the Lescar to keep music live during unthinkable times of closure.
At Turner Sims Southampton this was my first time of experiencing Fergus McCreadie playing in person; though I’m sure at home livestreams from Scotland count too! Affable and meticulous, Fergus and trio (David Bowden on bass and Stephen Henderson on drums) play melodic jazz with a Scottish, folky tinge. Vibing together beautifully, they are very much a team and ensemble, and it’s lovely to see three musicians flowing together and appreciating each other’s skills and talents. They also make something very complicated look very easy! and Fergus plays the piano beautifully.
If you enjoy Go Go Penguin, then Fergus’s tranquil yet evocative and determined jazz style is for you. Contemporary and very enjoyable — listen to more here — https://www.fergusmccreadie.co.uk/trio
